It may have been made to teach people that they can say no to something. Nobody can force you to do something you don't want to do at anytime. No does not mean no anymore because I think there's just no boundaries anymore. However, I don't think the video will help much because most of these people choose to ignore it , not because they don't understand, but because they don't have any respect, they don't care what you want or don't want. "No" means nothing to them. I think "No" is starting to mean nothing to more people because of the rape culture. Laws don't do anything to stop it, and so many people are recently starting to blame the victim, whether it the way they're dressed, or otherwise saying they put themselves in that position. It's creating an increasingly bigger rape culture. Unless the victim asked the rapist to rape them (in which case it's not even rape because they're not being forced into it) then it is not the victim's fault. Wearing revealing clothes or walking alone is not "asking for it". We need to start teaching people not to cover up and walk in groups and be careful at all times, but rather to teach them to not force someone into having sex if they don't want it. I think that even though they compared it with such a silly concept it was put in way that was easy to understand. The video was reffering to sex but not necessarily just sex but their main focus was on sex and how people may have different answers, but if that answer was not a definite yes then they probably don't want it and they shouldn't be forced to have it. It may have been made to teach people that they can say no to something. Nobody can force you to do something you don't want to do at anytime. No does not mean no anymore because I think there's just no boundaries anymore. You tell someone no and they do it anyway or try to twist there question so you say 'yes' but still do that thing you was uncomfortable with doing.

Like when he says, "If they don't want the tea, don't force them to drink it" as comparing it to rape, if they don't want to have sex with you don't force the sex. I believe that "NO" doesn't mean "no" anymore because the way they were raised, maybe they were taught to ignore no and do what they want or they got everything they wanted and never really understood no. Or maybe they experienced the same situation and the violator didn't stop to no so they want to make somebody else feel that way.

2. I think the video was well needed to be made because their are younger kids that do get rape and instead of the parents explaining to them that rape is not okay or rape is not a good thing for someone to do to a CHILD they want them to have a different perspective and idea of what to do in the action of rape. Right when it got into the consent part was when I realized making this video is really pity and dumb to think people can't seem to know what "no" means anymore.

They could use better examples for what they were doing. It wouldn't be taken seriously by others either at first and they want people to take things seriously.
The point of this video was to portray and show why people get forced to do things they don't want to. It tries to relate to the rape issue. People that are unsure about what to say when they are getting asked a question may not always mean yes and it may not always mean no. Respecting others and their decisions on what to do and what to say is on them and this video wasn't the best way to go into detail about respecting other people and what they want but it gives people a good idea.
2. Personally I think this video was made for people that don't fully understand and respect other peoples decisions and what they feel like they should do. There are people out there that will try to make you do things that you either don't want to do or are unsure about doing. No doesn't mean no anymore because there are people that often change their mind on what they want to do. For example, if someone invited another person to a party and they responded back hesitantly but said no, they could change their mind later that night. If someone doesn't immediately respond to a question you ask, it doesn't mean that its a yes or a no it just means that they are unsure about what to say but that does not give you the right of way to answer for them. Just like the video, don't force anyone to do anything that they don't want.

The video brought up some very good points in a...less then normal way. They touched base on thins that happen to people but referred to it as "tea". I did enjoy how they presented their information in general.

When someone says no don't try to pressure that person into doing something they don't want to do. Don't force people into doing something they are not ready for. So no means no and take it as it is.

Tea and sex, of course, are far from similar situations but the analogy perfectly demonstrates how absurd it is to force someone to drink tea which accurately fits any sexually related case.
2. I'm glad this video was made because it could really get people to comprehend and recognize that the term "no" literally means just that, no. No doesn't mean maybe, not right now, later, etc. Sadly, the term no has lost its meaning because of those who make it more complex then it actually is. If you ask someone if they want some tea, and they say no, why would you still make it and force them to drink it? The idea is absurd and idiotic. However, I don't think the video will help much because most of these people choose to ignore it , not because they don't understand, but because they don't have any respect, they don't care what you want or don't want. "No" means nothing to them.
I think "No" is starting to mean nothing to more people because of the rape culture. Laws don't do anything to stop it, and so many people are recently starting to blame the victim, whether it the way they're dressed, or otherwise saying they put themselves in that position. It's creating an increasingly bigger rape culture. Unless the victim asked the rapist to rape them (in which case it's not even rape because they're not being forced into it) then it is not the victim's fault. Wearing revealing clothes or walking alone is not "asking for it". We need to start teaching people not to cover up and walk in groups and be careful at all times, but rather to teach them to not force someone into having sex if they don't want it. It isn't hard to control yourself. Teach them by strengthening our laws and making them more punishing, teach the upcoming generations that "NO" MEANS "NO".

DeleteI think that even though they compared it with such a silly concept it was put in way that was easy to understand. The video was reffering to sex but not necessarily just sex but their main focus was on sex and how people may have different answers, but if that answer was not a definite yes then they probably don't want it and they shouldn't be forced to have it.
ReplyDeleteI think the video need to be made to help people understand the different types of answers and the true meaning behind those answers (if they couldn't read between the lines.) I think no doesn't mean no anymore because people aren't understanding the real meaning of no.
I agree, nobody takes the word "no" seriously anymore. The video did put a visual image in the viewers mind to help better understand the concept.

ReplyDelete1. This video was interesting and entertaining way to tell you about saying no to sex. It was enjoyable to watch. Main purpose was to tell you if you are not consent then you don't want it and not to force it to people.
2. It was showing an idea of saying no by giving us an example in another way to help those see it in a different way and that it is all the same when you say "NO" is no. Some my not understand it strait up so putting it this way shows different views of saying no. Some mite not understand and make excuse and try to go around it even if they know they don't want to.

ReplyDeleteThe video had an entertaining angle at explaining how consent works. No means no, and yes is liable to change. Being able to compare consent to tea is really smart, because its something basic. It doesn't take much to understand that somebody doesn't force another to drink tea.
This video needed to be made because some people NEED this to understand the meaning of no. Now, no isn't an answer. No is just something another says and is ignored. Some may just not know the meaning, and this is a great way give people a better understanding.
This video was about saying no when you don't want "tea" and how if you don't want something don't be afraid to say no. if the person isn't in your shoes they may not understand. but relating it to tea was pretty clever.

In a way it is a form of peer pressure. The whole point of the video is to not keep asking or force who ever it is your talking to ,to do something to don't want to do.

I believe this video was made to help people understand that when someone says no they mean no. They used the tea as an example. If they don't want tea don't make them drink it even if they said yes before. People can change their mind. Same with sex, if they say no then it means no.

Yes, people have opinions or why the person said it but no means no and yes means yes. Someone people think when people say something they have to respond to it, but you really don't have to respond.

ReplyDelete1. I feel like this video wouldn't have been necessary if people would do right. Then again since people don't know how to do right this was a perfect analogy. Comparing tea to sex was a great way to illustrate a sexual situation.
2. It needed to be made for people who don't understand the word "no". no means no but some people can't wrap it around there heads. when a person says no and another ignores either they really don't want to listen or they don't have enough respect to listen.
Consent to sex is vital. The tea is clearly meant to signify sex. You cant just force sex upon someone. Its so wrong on so many levels. I enjoyed this video.

From the famous not everybody needs to be asked prior to each insertion to the student that allegedly thought he’d surprise his partner with some non consensual to that song to almost every damn comment on any article by anyone that suggests that yes means yes; it seems people really have a problem understanding that before you have sex with someone, and that’s every time you have sex with them, make sure they want to have sex with you.
